All in a dress……….normal.
I wrote this post quite some time ago. I thought about it the other day when I was at a Transgender Job Fair (post upcoming). I got into a conversation (mostly me listening) with some folks that are involved with the government and various LGBTQ policy issues. One thing I contributed is an observation of mine. The more we are seen in mainstream situations, changing stereotypical perceptions of crossdressers, the more we will normalize our acceptance into society. Google “crossdressers” and you’ll see images that are not at all representative of who we are, who I am certainly. This is an evolutionary process. I believe that is why I am almost universally accepted when I am out. I am perceived as “normal”. I am not “in your face”. I am not stereotypical. And I am by no means special, just a student of human nature. I am non-threatening. So people are able to look directly at me and not through a preconceived filter. Well, that’s what I believe, for whatever it’s worth.
