It is nice to have a girlfriend that you can count on and Kandi is definitely that person! On a recent Friday her and I met at a local art gallery/exhibit. The building (78th Street Studios) was filled with four floors of paintings, clothing, jewelry, photos, furniture, music, and wine! It was a fabulous place to not only walk around and look at everything but to be around accepting people. Kandi and I (mostly Kandi) talked to many people and it was amazing to watch how people came up to her and just started talking! Kandi loves going to rock concerts and when we came to a photographer who had many of these type photos on display she was in heaven! I quickly walked around the display and came across a wonderful older woman sitting on a couch all by herself, I sat down and struck up a conversation with her. She turned out to be the mother of one of the photographers! We sat together for at least 20 minutes and she introduced me to family members who periodically came up to us. We mostly talked about her son’s work but we also talked about the other displays and how nice everything was. As I was sitting there I was amazed by this beautiful 83 year old woman and how her caring and non-judgmental attitude was on full display and a wonderful example for every family member I met.
After a couple of hours of walking around, we went to a local restaurant for an appetizer and a beer. Kandi was there first and was already seated. As I walked in, nobody paid much attention to me which was wonderful. Our meal was great and just enough. Since Kandi was out for most of the day she went home and I finished the night solo.
I made my way to Square (a gay bar in Akron) and quickly recognized another CD who posts a lot of videos on YouTube. I introduced myself to her and we had a good conversation until she left for another nearby place. As I was standing alone, two younger women and their friend came up to me, started talking, and eventually asked me to dance with them! Now this is where the evening gets interesting and another first happened! As I was dancing a female to male trans person asked if I was into men or women, WOW! I disappointed him when I said women because he said he wanted to hit on me!! That REALLY caught me off guard but as I thought about it I was flattered by the fact that he was attracted to me (I must be doing something right). Afterwards, I honestly wondered what would have happened if I said I was into men. Probably, the best part of the night was the six different people who came up to me saying I was beautiful, pretty, or gorgeous! Talk about a confidence booster! Until next time my friends. Hope you like the pictures.
Stay beautiful-Sherry
