……if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter!

One of the benefits of reading blogs such as yours is that your courage and the things you undertake, do serve to inspire and motivate others.
As much as some many of us enjoy dressing and the entire process of selecting our clothes, applying our makeup, matching our shoes to our hose to our accessories, etc. the simple act of doing all of this but staying home and out of the line of human interaction tends to be less than fulfilling. As you have pointed out the transformation process is time and effort intensive. For you, and for many, the goal is to get out and be accepted for who and what we are….whatever that may be.
My first real foray into the civilian world was about 20 years ago on Halloween. I dressed in a lovely blue dress, a black page boy wig, and wore a beret and carried a cigar. You can guess my character.
On other Halloweens and on many other days as well I have been able to get out but my mixing with the civilian population has not been as immersive as yours and many others.
Recently, I have been going to a town about a half hour away. It is a low key place with many bars and restaurants on its Main Street. I have become a bit of a regular at a local wine bar (they also have a few good beers on tap). On Halloween I wanted to try going to some of the other places in this town. Several had various Halloween related events. The photo below is the dress, hose and heels I wore that night. The photo was not taken on Halloween but last night at my regular bar.
For me this Halloween was less than inspiring. The places that I stopped into had plenty of folks in costume but I felt out of place. In the first instance I did not see myself in a dress as being in a costume. Second, and more importantly, I think I was twice the age of everyone else in the place. For some reason I really felt old and out of place. Granted, going out on Halloween was good cover for me but it just did not light my fire. Perhaps I have aged out of the Halloween demographic…if I ever was part of it. I am now more convinced than ever that what I need to do is to get out and about with the regular civilian population. The entire Halloween experience was more melancholy than invigorating. Oh well, like they say, “Too soon old…too late smart”.

Thank you my friend!!!!
