Seven Days of Dee – Day Five

Day Five, Tuesday–Pinkfest, Day One

Today’s meeting spot was Boystown, an LGBTQ friendly neighborhood near Wrigley Field. I met with five others, including four CD’s and a wife (she was very much fun and supportive of her husband). After lunch, introductions, and chit-chat, we took the bus to visit Akira, a somewhat funky woman’s clothing store. We are probably not the target demographic–the clothes were on the younger and smaller side–but one of our group found a funky combination of orange top and black skirt with an overlay of mesh dotted with what kind of looked like bee-bees (but no one’s eyes were at risk), which she wore to dinner.

I left the group to regroup before dinner and to change into a more heat friendly outfit. We met at six at the Kit Kat club for a drink and happy hour snack, and to welcome another CD. From there, we walked the eateries along Halsted Avenue stopping at a handful that were participating in the Taste of Boystown promotion. Food, drink, and conversation, along with cooler temperatures, made for a pleasant evening. At that point the other four went to an improv show while I turned into a pumpkin and returned to my hotel, to rest up for more girl time tomorrow.
