Wine, Women and Shoes

October 26, 2019 – How could I resist this one? Yes, I WAY overbooked myself, but what’s a girl to do? My volunteer double header, outfit nine of ten and a Liz Claiborne beauty!

The picture to the immediate left, not too bad, was the result of a very early alarm, my pounding head and dry mouth. Good work, if I must say so myself! Time to make the drive from Akron to downtown Cleveland.

This event was for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House. It was billed to feel fabulous from the moment you walk in the door at the Hilton Cleveland Downtown. Wine Women & Shoes 2019 was an event like no other, featuring wine tastings, a boutique marketplace, Best-in-Shoe Competition, luxurious Key to the Closets, a professional fashion show and charming Shoe Guys to inspire and pamper you throughout the event. A great cause and oh yeah, it was about wine (I like wine), women (I am one) and shoes (do I need to say anything here?).

Again, I knew not one single soul walking in the door. I didn’t even “explain myself” beforehand to the volunteer coordinator. No problem. I was, ironically, registering the VIPs for the second straight event. I steered very clear of the wine this time. I worked for about an hour and a half and quite enjoyed myself. Three of the other ladies I worked with and I became good friends pretty quickly. One of which I had a lengthy and meaningful conversation with. She told me when she saw me I fascinated her and she wanted to get to know me. What a wonderful woman and a real blessing to me.

It was just really cool being one of the hundreds of women there. It was a big dollar event and I was there on the very cheap, but that is my MO.

As you can see, I again had no trouble making friends! I saw a local television celebrity whom I had met last year at another event and she immediately remembered me and we chatted briefly (she was there working as the shoe judge). I enjoyed the company of my new friends and watched the fashion show.

Then it was time to flip myself for the evening’s festivities. I procured a family restroom in the hotel (single small bathroom with a lock and plenty of space) and took my time getting changed and headed about a half mile to my next event.

to be continued………
