A Haphazard Halloween (Part 2)

By Marie Anne Greene

The ALARM jolted Our Girl out of her delightful slumber at the appointed hour and she began her full “morning” routine, with a warm shower and a rose scented smooth skin and femininity nourishing body wash by NIVEA. She had pulled her long sleeping mane up into a saucy pony-tail before entering her Crystal Walled Shower Stall and was able to go through all her highly enjoyable sequence (exercises) of feminine twists and stretches. With the warm cascade turned off and our Gal wrapped in her soft oversized pink body towel she stepped to her make-up altar and proceeded to apply a smoothing cream extending from the edge of her hair line across the face around the ears and down her neck and to her suntanned decalage, arms, legs and fingers. Marie’s goal was to be soft and deliciously feminine all-over.

While the Victoria Secret’s cream was drying and softening her entire soul as well, our Gal stepped to her lingerie collection and selected the previously identified matching lacy burnt orange Bra and Panty set which in keeping with Marie’s habit of ensuring her “Delicates” complimented the color scheme of the chosen outer wear. In this case, these delicious under pinning’s perfectly blended with the multi-color pallet of the gossamer material (almost sheer in its transparency) that constituted the “Harlequin” outfit. Selecting the jewelry was quick and added another enjoyable dimension to her feminine ritual which was completed by the delightful fragrance of her Elizabeth Taylor perfume.

With our girl satisfied with her overall aura and presentation, and after giving Puppy Dog his last chance to “Smell the roses” and refreshing his water and food bowl – the latter flavored with pieces of fresh chicken, Marie decided it was time to set out for the Salon before the threat of rain materialized.

She was the last of the All-Girl-Tribe to arrive and was warmly welcomed by all with hugs and cheek kisses. As prescribed by Tanya, all attendees worn costumes many of which were borrowed from their spouses, brothers or special squeeze. As might be expected these included various uniforms – Sports, police, fire, doctor, nurses, EMS, National Guard, clergy and even the “Adams’s Family” Undertaker. Another Tanya dictate, was that all of the Girls had to wear a full-face mask to further (at least temporarily) make it a little difficult to identify the individual attendees.

This proved to be a two-edged sword. Although Marie’s outfit was unique and her feathered mask (resurrected from a previous Marti Gard event) made a bewitching and fetching combination, (which under normal circumstances would be great at concealing the identity of the wearer) did not pass the test this evening, as most the other girls knew our GAL had been away on an Caribbean Cruise and immediately knew who was the tanned lady behind the mask and the flamboyant costume but it was still fun and all were happy to have Marie as part of this FUN GIRL EVENT.

Although our gal suspected a few of the other party goers might have been just a little envious of her tan and her few days of seaborne escape, however, none rejected her presence and all were fully accepting of “Our Gal” with hugs and questions about the cruise. A few even said “We” should plan one as a group and have a real Fun in the Sun Adventure.

The composition of this collective milieu of bubbling and boisterous caring and supporting femininity consisted of at least seven mothers, two divorcees, one horsewoman, one former Miss America Contestant and no less than four grandmothers. Photographs of grandkids abounded and tales of family get-together faux pas soon had the group in hysterics. Of-course all of this was spiced by the free flow of wine and delicious munchies.

Next came the games interspersed with the riddles, many yielding goofy answers. Then came memory lane time as each gal’s musical choice filled the air with most being augmented by a chorus of screaming or crooning as the mood prevailed. Some of the songs even led to a variety of spontaneous dancing including a Clogging demonstration by two of the older backcountry grandma girls. The mixture and variety of personalities from a wide spectrum of backgrounds, and different geographic regions of the country made for a joyful, comfortable and loving atmosphere.

Overall everyone had a great time with new memories added to their personal and Marie’s private collection of what it means being a girl. Regrettably, in some attendee’s opinion, the forecast rain did not arrive and thus the Pajama Party did not materialize, which Marie is sure, would have yielded not only the traditional pillow fight but also a host of juicy girls’ stories some of which even might have embarrassed OUR GAL.

The festivities were over and the Salon restored to its business profile by 11:30 when Marie, just about to turn off the lights, she noted a flyer taped to inside of the door advertising “A Renaissance Yuletide”. Turning to Tanya, Marie “Asked what is this? Tanya. “Oh! That it is our Choral Society’s annual Fund Raiser. It consists of a Medieval Themed (12th Century) dinner with Choral Singing. The Choral Group as well as the other performers will be in period dress. Many of audience will like -wise be wearing period costumes and join in on the folk dances. Every-One totally enjoys themselves. Why don’t you plan on coming? Your Harlequin outfit would be absolutely perfect. Dumb Me! You could be in the chorus ensemble or you could be a member of the clapping and Bravo chanting audience. Why didn’t I think of this before? Let me know by Monday and I’ll get you a ticket. Monday is last day to get a ticket. Attendance will be closed out that time to allow the Caterer to arrange for the food, etc.”

With that explanation, Tanya stuffed one of the flyers into Marie’s bag and then locked the door. Tanya and Marie exchanged last minute hugs and headed to their cars and drove to their respective homes. Each called the other on their cell phones to confirm each was home safely. Both were elated and “pooped” at the same time and both ready to fall in love with their pillows, although Our Gal Marie had one last chore: “Walk” puppy dog before calling it a very fine, fun and thoroughly enjoyable GIRL day and a great day full of memories.

During the brief Teddy walk Marie decided she would take up Tanya’s invitation and attend the “Renaissance Yuletide Feast”, as it held the potential for another Marie Anne “Out and About” adventure.
