September 2, 2020 – You recently read about my first day back at the art museum, which followed a 12+ hour overnight drive to Southeast Pennsylvania. Well, I got another run to that same hospital, I just didn’t have to do it overnight. So I’m thinking, I am travelling 381 miles away, doing so anonymously plus being a hospital, I have to wear a mask, why not dress?
So I wore one of my pair of white shorts, a black t-shirt, flats, packed my purse and off I went!
I set the alarm for 2:00 AM. And as I do on almost every day I work, I woke up 10 minutes before the alarm went off. I had done some pre-prep the night before, including my facial shave. I got up, got dressed after “taking care of business” (TMI, I know), did my makeup, made some coffee, shot the wonderful photo you see above and drove for almost 13 hours.
Along the way, I used the ladies room (again, forgive the TMI) five different times, in gas stations and rest stops, always alone given the time of day. Drove there, made the delivery, drove home. A long day, a profitable day (a small portion of the proceeds were used for a professional outdoor photo shoot), a boring-as-hell day, a grey and rainy day, but it may have been the longest (if not the most unglamorous) Kandi day ever!
It all started with me asking myself, why wouldn’t I?

Bonus Post: September 20, 2020 – Due to our daughter’s recent visit, I had not been to the art museum for a few weeks. On this day, I made my triumphant return…….zzzzzzzzzz…….
Another Sunday morning shift, another very slow morning (which was supposed to pick up that afternoon). The museum is my way of getting dressed, seeing friends and spending very little. No real story here. Got up early and ran (hadn’t done so for a few weeks for various reasons). Then got dressed and worked my shift. Ran a few errands on my way home, then tore down, washed the cars, cut the grass, made dinner and watched some late afternoon football. A normal Sunday for me: runner, girl, husband, guy, on and on and on.
Two encounters that were once commonplace, now are to be cherished. While doing what I always do, checking the clearance lingerie at Dillard’s, Gina, the SA introduced herself and we had a natural conversation between two women. While trolling the final days of every NY&Co. in my area, a woman raved about my bracelets. She was so sweet and we chatted a bit. I will never get over how naturally I blend (note, not pass, but blend).
I wore my art museum t-shirt with a denim skirt and wedges and as always, felt entirely comfortable. Further confirmation that I have grown comfortable in my own skin.
